Outfit & Makeup of the Day || November 18, 2015

Hi Everyone!

One of my favorite type of posts to make is where I get to show you what I have worn. I haven't done one since this summer and so it was about time I made one. Today was an icky, gloomy, rainy day. The only plus side of it raining is that I am able to use umbrella. I love using my umbrella, I know, I'm weird. On the topic of umbrellas I am blown away by the amount of students on my campus who even in the pouring rain don't use an umbrella. One of my roommates was like 'It's weird' but, I would much rather show up to class dry having looked 'weird' holding any umbrella then show up like I just took a shower in my clothes. That aside, here is what I wore!

If you have seen any of my outfits from last fall/winter, what I am wearing will look very familiar. Vests and flannels are my go to, cold fall/winter day apparel and with the rain and wind today was no exception.

Closet Room Tour || Blossoms & Beauty

Hi Everyone!

Long time no chat! Today I want to share with you my closet. I am in my final year of college and this year I am living in a house (an old, icky, gross, college house) but, a house none the less. On top of that I live in the basement, surprisingly, it may be the best floor of the house. In the basement their are three rooms, two small ones and one large one. I live with three other girls and being as two of them live upstairs and the other lives in the big room downstairs I was able to have the two small rooms downstairs. So of course I transformed one of them into a huge walk-in closet and I am in love.

To start off, above is an overview of my closet. I have a dresser and four clothes racks. The clothes racks that I purchased are actually from Fleet Farm and they were $10 each. I had meant to receive four from IKEA but my online purchase somehow got lost and I never received them. The racks are fairly standard with just one rail which can be adjusted to your desired height and on the bottom their are two horizontal poles to hold shoes.

This grey dresser not only holds clothes but doubles as my vanity as I get ready in my closet in the mornings. The top two drawers have makeup and hair care items, three drawers have clothes, one drawer has candles, one is essentially just a junk drawer, and the final one has all my makeup bags and blowdryer in it. Above my dresser is my mirror which has a flower garland on it that I made and above is my monogram I DIYed with letters from Walmart.

A week or so a go, I went through my racks, because they were packed and it looked so cluttered, and removed all of my more spring and summer colored and styled clothing and placed them in a drawer (pictured on the left). I only had one drawer to put all of those items so I had to maximize the space by folding my shirts like so. By doing this I opened up more space on my racks and made them look a fall and wintery.
In the drawer pictured on the right I have leggings and other random pants I didn't want hanging up.

On this first clothing rack I have all my dresses, long dresses on the right and then all my short dresses going from light to dark. As I mentioned I went through all my racks a week ago and at that time I also color coded the hangers on each rack. By making each rack have a set color of hangers I think it makes them look much more organized and took away some of the clutter. I am really happy with how the matching hangers look.

In a bin besides the dress rack I have mittens and gloves because winter is slowly but surely coming and having them out gives me easy access to them.

The next two racks are both dedicated to tops. On the left are all of my sweaters, sweatshirts, cardigans, and blazers and then on the right I have tank tops, t-shirts, long sleeves, and spirit jerseys.

My final clothing rack has a mix of items, their are pants, vests, and jackets on it.

Below each rack their are holders for shoes, as I stated before, and this is an example of them from below my pants and vests. Many of my shoes that are out have heels and I don't think they work all that well for them, only because the back doesn't reach the other horizontal pole in the back and as a result they sit down in the opening between the two poles. You can kind of see it with the booties.
On the ends of each rack I hang up my bags. You can go back and see on each of the racks the purses I keep on them.

If you noticed, above each rack I have five picture frames and all of them have a different Lilly Pulitzer print in them. I love Lilly Pulitzer and I wanted to bring some brightness and fun into my closet as well as having something to put up on the wall. I made these with 96 cent frames and old Lilly Pulitzer agenda pages. Super cheap and super adorable!

Over to the final corner of my closet is the actual closet to the room. I have a ruffled black curtain that is hung up, it is typically closed to hide my laundry. Inside I have a shoe rack that holds shoes that I either don't want to display or don't wear frequently. I also have my tights hanger and skirts hanging up behind the shoe rack.
Along with the clothes and the shoes I keep my jewelry in here. I have a hanging jewelry holder full of bracelets, then on the wall I have necklaces, and the black box on the small dresser holds earrings as well as rings.

Right next to the closet I have my full length mirror which, when open, is hidden behind my door. I have all my sunglasses hanging up and tassels hanging above them. I hung the sunglasses up mostly just to add something to the plain white walls.

Coming full circle and back to my door I have a few scarves hanging up and two tote bags on the door handle.

I hope you all enjoyed taking a look around my closet. It is my favorite room in the house, I found myself just hanging out in their the other day. It truly turned out better then I imagined it would and I'm going to be so sad when I move out in the spring.

Oh, I Love New York || Blossoms & Beauty

Hi Everyone!

On Monday I started my senior year of college. I almost can't believe that I have one year left of school and then it is time to move on to a big girl job and into the real world. It seriously does not seem real. What I also cannot believe is that summer is over. One of the best summers I have had in my entire life. Just yesterday I sat in Java City in one of my campus buildings and pretty much had a melt down on how I want to be back in New York. I am so ready to be out of the midwest and in a place where I feel like I fit in and belong. This town is to small for me!

To relive my time in New York I figured I would share with all of you a few pictures from the two months I lived in New York. I lived in the NYU dorms near Union Square so I was in the heart of all the action. If I wasn't already in love with New York this summer just intensified my love for the city.

This could not be a more truer quote for me right now. It is my favorite quote about New York.

SHOWROOM

This summer the reason I was in New York is that I had an internship. I interned at Fiftytwo showroom and it was so much fun! I learned a ton and also enjoyed myself tremendously. here are a few images of the showroom.

THE MET

One Friday after work me and another intern went to the met. The met is huge and I don't think it would be possible to see everything in one day.

This was my favorite exhibit. All of the clothes were gorgeous and it was all so interesting.

This gold dress was in a huge room all on it's own. The dress was huge and immaculate and the picture does not do it justice.

FOURTH OF JULY

With a group of people I went over to the Brooklyn pier and watched the Macy's fireworks over the city.

 LIFE

I had to take a trip to cityMD -__- that was interesting but turns out I had acute bronchitis.

MENS FASHION WEEK

By far my favorite part of the summer was being able to attend the Robert Geller show at New York Fashion Week Men's, The first ever Men's fashion week. I got to be backstage before the show and then had prime seating during the show. I also saw Joe Jonas! I should have gotten a picture with him but I was of course trying to be cool and it was raining. I didn't want a picture that badly.

I was able to attend a presentation also at Men's Fashion week and that was for a brand called DeTROIT.

DINNER / DANCE CRUISE

BROADWAY

While in New York I of course took this opportunity to go to a few musicals, four in total. I saw Les Mis, Finding Neverland, Phantom of the Opera, and The Lion King. The Lion King was amazing and even though it was spendy it was well worth it. The music, the costumes, the props were all spectacular.
The music in Phantom of the Opera was also outstanding and for that one I had an amazing seat because I went to the TKTS booth in Time Square.
I had previously seen Wicked and Cinderella. My favorite are; The Lion King and Wicked so I would without a doubt check into one of those two if you are ever in New York because they are amazing!

FAMILY TAKES NEW YORK

When I finished my internship my family came out to New York and we spent around a week their together. We went to the Statue of Liberty, a Mets game, and the Lion King. I also had to bring them to Shack Shake which is my favorite!

We made a quick stop through Grand Central Station

One afternoon we had lunch at Serendipity where I got a frozen peanut butter hot chocolate. It is the best thing I have ever drank!

Lilly Pulitzer is one of my favorite stores and being as I was in New York, and I do not have a Lilly where I live, I visited their quite a bit.

"Autumn in New York, why does it seem so inviting?"
-Vernon Duke

It seems inviting because that is where I would rather be :)
