My Closet Organization Tricks and Tips (My Life Wednesday)

Hi Everyone!
Today for My Life Wednesday I decided to share some of my tips and tricks for closet organization.
I have learned so many ways to use the space that you have since being in college because my college closet was tiny. So over the summer I brought those tricks home with me.

________________________________________________________________________________________

Lets Get Started!

Lets start with the dressers. In my closet I have two dressers one that is tall and one that is wide so they basically fill up the whole closet. One thing I hate to do is fold so what I have done is just dedicated things I feel don't really need to be folded in one drawer. So like sweaters all in one drawer, sports bras all in one and cami's all in one.

Sweaters

Camis and shorts

Sports Bras

Swimsuits
I think that this just makes it easy to through these things back in there drawer after they have been washed. Also if you are just trying on a bunch of sweaters for an outfit you can just toss them back in the drawer and they don't end up all over the floor.

As for other stuff in drawers I have found that you really do have to fold them because it makes it look nicer and easier to find things. I still do think though it is good to have one set drawer for specific things.

Shorts

T-Shirts

Sweatshirts

Sweatshirts
Sweatshirts are a great thing to put in drawers because I feel that when they are hanging up they seem to take up so much room. Since I had extra drawers, because they still take up a lot of room in drawers, that is where I put them. The sweatshirts are something that have to be folded in my opinion or you wont be able to fit as many in.

Drawers aren't only a great place to store clothes but many other things that you don't want on the shelves or ground of your closet. I have things that I brought home from college like towels and sheets that I don't want just laying out so I put them in a drawer. Also shoes that I don't want to get rid of but don't wear as often I have stuck in a drawer.

Sheets & Towels

Extra Shoes

More Sheets & Towels
One more thing before we move away from drawers is that I have on the outside of them used tape and then labeled them by name (Ex. Sweaters, Sheets, Shoes, etc...) Its a great way to know exactly what drawer you need to look in for what you want to find and if someone else such as a parent is putting away your clothes they know exactly where it should be going.

Hangers! Hangers were one thing that I loved buying for college I don't think I left a store without buying a different type of hanger. They are a great space saver if you get the right ones and can be used for so many different things.

Skirt Hanger: These are great space savers because it layers your skirts down so instead of having four different hangers hanging up in your closet you only have one. I believe I got this from TJ Maxx for only $5.99. I bought two and love them!

I believe this is a belt hanger and that is what I use it for when I am at home. While I was in college I used it to store my necklaces because I did not have anywhere else in my tiny dorm room to hang them up.

Scarf Hanger: Yes this is supposed to be a scarf hanger but since I have so many tights that I didn't want to waist a drawer with all of them and I have a different method of storing scarves I thought this was a great way to hang up my tights and be able to easily get them and see them.

I am not sure what kind of hanger this is but it has four rods that can be pulled out and I use it for my scarves. I have a lot so this makes it easy to have them all on one hanger because if I used a normal one it would take about five hangers.
I don't know if you can technically call this a hanger but it does hang and it is a hanging shoe rack. I love this because if I didn't have it I have no idea where I would be putting my shoes. I used this in College as well but this year will be using something else which I will probably show in a college post.

All of these hangers will for sure be going back to college with me because they a great way to save space when you do not have that much room.

Still a little more on hangers. As funny and silly as this may sound. I have been color coordinating my hangers to the type of clothes. For example pants all on white hangers. I started this in college and when I got home for a little bit went back to using just whatever hangers but I couldn't. Using the same ones just makes it look so neat and clean in your closet.

This is a great way if you are looking for something in the morning to know exactly what section it will be in because you know the color of the hanger that it will be on.

The next thing is making use of the walls. On the walls I have command strips and other things that I use to hang necklaces and purses since I have no wear else to put them. Make use of your free wall space so that you are not wasting any available space that can be used. Command strips will without a doubt be coming with me back to college.

Because I always have my door open I even decided to use that to hang this bag on because it had no where else to go.

The last thing that I am going to talk about is shelf space. I have a shelf at the very top of my closet that really I had nothing to put on so I made the best use of it I could find.

For things that you also just don't want in the open use shoe boxes or cute little boxes and put them up on the shelf it looks nice and you cant see all of the things you do not want people to look at or even look at yourself.

All of these shoes did not fit in my hanging shoe rack and I did not want them on the ground so what I did was just put them up nicely on my shelf. For the boots so that they stand up straight I cut a pool noodle to fit them and stuck them in there so that they stand up nicely.
