Fashion Do's and Don'ts for School (Fashion Friday)

Hi Everyone!

Today is Fashion Friday and since for some school will be starting or has already had for many, like myself, I thought I would do fashion dos and don'ts for what to where to school whether you are in college or high school.

Let's Get Started!

To start off I am going to talk about how to beat the heat. I know for not all of you it might not be super hot but where I am right now it is beyond the normal heat temperature. So here are some tips on how to beat the heat.

DO:
~ Wear loose fitting clothes.
~ Wear light colors.
~ I would opt for a dress or a skirt otherwise shorts and a tank are a go to.
~ Wear light fabrics.
~ Avoid to much layering

DONT:
~ Wear dark colors.
~ Wear unnecessary layers (ex. jacket, sweater).
~ Wear heavy and thick fabrics.

Jumping to my next piece of advice I am going to talk about leggings. I am going to start by saying some leggings yes can work as pants but please make sure if you do wear leggings as pants that when you bend over you cant see right through them. In personal opinion though just avoid wearing leggings as pant because they are not. I like to think of leggings as my room pants that I wear when I want to be comfy but no one else but my friends and family will see me.

DO:
~ Wear with a tunic or longer shirt.
~ Pair them with and oversized sweater.
~ Make sure they are a heavy fabric.

DONT:
~ Wear them as pants if they have the chance of being see through.
~ Make them your everyday wear.
~ (opinion) Wear them with just a crop top or bandeau.

Dresses and skirts are next. There is a time and a place for every type of skirt and dress. School is definitely not the time to be wearing something that you would consider going out to a club in. Remember that it is not just you around your peers but there is also the staff of teacher and professors there as well.

DO:
~ Wear dresses and skirts that are tasteful for school.
~ Try a little bit longer.
~ Be more modest, you can be modest and look amazing at the same time.

DONT:
~ Wear what you would wear out to party or a club (Its probably not appropriate).
~ Wear plunging necklines.
~ Wear to short of skirts.

Story: If I can see your butt when you walk in a dress you probably should not be wearing it, at least to school. I remember walking into school in high school and a girl in front of my was walking and was wearing a dress and the more she walked the more of her butt I could see. It is uncomfortable and not something that you want others to be seeing, that I am sure of.

Shoes, shoes, shoes. Shoes are one of my favorite things to buy and high heels especially but you will not catch me walking across campus in a pair of pumps. Here are some of my everyday shoe dos and don'ts

DO:
~ Wear comfortable shoes
~ Buy shoes that you know you will wear often (neutrals are the best)
~ Make sure you have practical shoes for every season (especially if you live somewhere it snows)

DONT:
~ Buy shoes you know will only match a few outfits
~ Shoes that may be cute but are uncomfortable to walk all over campus in.

The last things I am going to talk about it your personal style. There is a quote that I recently heard that one of my roommates has on her door as a decal that says "Be your kind of beautiful". That is so true and what I think many people need to aspire to do. Everyone needs to find what makes them happy and feel good about themselves. We all need to find our beautiful. It can be hard when there are so many things shouting at us what beautiful is supposed to be. I believe though once you and even me find out what makes us feel truly beautiful and find what my personal style is that we will feel so good about ourselves.

I have recently tried to do this I buy things that I like and that I want to wear even though it may not be the newest trend but it makes me feel confident. I have always been severely self conscious about myself but that is not as strong of a case anymore. I feel good and confident when I can look at myself and say that I look good having put together what I feel amazing in. That is something I think everyone needs to strive for because it is (I hope so) attainable.

Thank you so much for reading!
I think next week will be a product review but I am not sure what on. If you do have a product you would like me to review leave it in a comment down below. Also if you agree or disagree with some of my dos and don'ts tell me.
There are new posts every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday.

What's in My School Bag (My Life Wednesday)

Hi Everyone!

Today I thought I would do a quick post about what is in my college book bag. I'm going to share with you my classes and my first impressions on them and then also the books that I am using for them.

Let's Get Started!

I'm going to start with my schedule and what it is like.

Mondays and Wednesdays I also have one class and it is Fashion Promotion. It is an hour and fifty minutes in the morning. My first impression on this class is that I am really going to like it. I like the teacher and I even like the textbook I was actually able to get through the first two chapters without being completely bored. In this class it is mostly about visual merchandising so we are going to be making window displays and I am really excited for that!

On Tuesdays and Thursday I have three classes. I have Composition 2, Customer Service, and Psychology.

Psychology is not a class that I am real thrilled about but I have to take it. I don't think it will be hard but I also do not think that it will be a class that I don't have to study for. I did take psychology in high school so I do hope that it will help a little bit. It also doesn't help that the class is at eight in the morning.

The next class that I have those days is Customer Service. I actually think this class will be interesting and there is a lot o activities and discussions which I like. I don't know how I feel about the professor but will see as the semester goes on.

The last class that I have on Tuesdays and Thursdays is Composition 2. I really like to write so this class I don't believe will be very hard at all. I don't mind writing essays but I hate having to do peer review because I hate other people reading them in case they are horrible. I also don't like reading from the book of essays that we have either.

Fridays are my favorite day, why you ask? Because I don't have class at all! I have chosen classes that do go a little longer on Tuesdays and Thursdays that would normally be shorter and on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Two of my classes though that I have were only offered online so I have two classes online. Those two classes are Juvenile Literature and Professional Behavior at Work.

Juvenile Literature is one I picked because I needed a humanities credit and did not want to take a history class so I thought this one would be fun and I hope it is.

Professional Behavior at Work I think will be a lot of effort because there seems to be a lot of just busy work and things to read and watch online. I think it will be interesting and could be fun with the projects we have though.

Those are the classes that I am taking this semester! I am really looking forward to having no science classes this semester and never again! I would love to hear if your in high school or college what classes you have this semester or quarter. If your in college also what is your major. In my next post on my college and lifestyle blog I will be talking about classes and majors so be on the lookout for that!

Thank you so much for reading!

There are new posts every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday.
I am really looking forward to this Fridays post which is about everyday where at school.

Makeup Organization (Dorm Room Edition ~~ Makeup Monday)

Hi Everyone!

I once again have missed a Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday! I do have a reason this time though, I was moving back to college! Things had been so hectic but I am all settled now and back on track for makeup Monday. I thought with having just moved all my makeup I would show you how I organized it in my room.

Let's Get Started!

This year I live in on campus apartments so I actual have my own room. It is great and I love it so much better then sharing a tiny dorm room that also did not have air conditioning last year. So that being said I do have a little more room to store my makeup but here we go!

This is the dresser that I use to store my makeup in. The front of it I actually modge podged fabric onto with colors that would match my room.

Top Drawer: This drawer is where I keep most of my everyday essentials like: Contacts, clippers, tweezers, bobby pins, hair ties, hair clips, lip products, and random mini gel liners and primers.

2nd Drawer: This is where I also keep essentials such as makeup wipes, foundation, moisturizer, deodorant, and hair products. In here I also keep extra hair ties and bows. Extra mascara and eyeliners are also kept in the silver square in the back.

3rd Drawer: This is where I keep my everyday hair stuff and spray. Since I had extra room in this drawer I put my backup makeup for when my products run out.

4th Drawer: This is where I keep half of my nail polish and nail polish remover. I also have the stick on nail strips and fillers in here.

Bottom Drawer: This is where I have the rest of my nail polish. I also have this basically empty container which as Advil and makeup brush cleaner in it.

This is where I get ready and as you can see my brushes are in a glass container on the right and then my palettes are in a paper filler on the left.
This thing does not house any makeup but the top two glass containers do! The right one has mascara and eyeliners that I frequently use. The left one has my tall/long lip products on rollerball perfumes.

That is my makeup organization for my room! I do have two tips in keeping everything organized and neat:

1. Containers, Containers, Containers! I am someone who can not stand not having a home for everything. That is why I have so many little glass containers because it gives the products a place they are supposed to go and then I am less likely to just throw it someone and I always know where it is.

2. Store like things together. Like having one drawer for hair stuff of nail stuff. Also in containers put all eye things together or all eyeliners together.

I believe that is it for my makeup storage and on my life Wednesday I will be sharing with you what is in my school bag and then for fashion Friday it will be about some typical everyday college where. So there is a theme this week all about college but after this I am open to any suggestions for next weeks posts!

Thanks so much for Reading!
New posts every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday!

If you would like to see what my full room looks like you can head over to my college and lifestyle blog. My post today is about Dorms & Roommates. There will even be a video of my dorm from last year and you can see where I kept my makeup when I shared a small room!

Cream Eyeshadows (Makeup Monday)

Hi Everyone!

Today for makeup Monday I am going to be discussing three different brands cream eye shadows. I will be going over Revlon, Benefit and Maybelline's.

Let's Get Started!

Maybelline Color Tattoo:

My Thoughts:
The color tattoo is one of my favorite cream eye shadows. These, at least the ones I have tried, have great pigmentation. They are a little thicker but I have found because of this they do not crease and smudge as much. This I think also may be because they are a little bit drier then others and not quite as creamy and like a liquid. It really does last a long time like the name says it does. One downside to this product is that it is not easily blendable and that is because it is a little bit more dry. Another downside it brings because it is dry is applying because it does not move around the eye is well. So a tip is to start out light because then you can build up color otherwise it is difficult to blend out.

Price:
$6.99

Where to Find:
Drugstores, Target, Wal-Mart, and Ulta

Benefit:

My Thoughts:
I find that the Benefit cream eye shadows are great for a base coat. These I find do not seem to last as long as they should. The pigmentation of these is not quite what I would hope for because it is very light and creamy so the color blends out very easily. I did find that it creased quite a bit to and I do not like that at all. That is something I try to avoid at all costs. Like I said though they are easily blendable which is something I like about them and they look great under other eye shadows. Color buildup is something you can do to make the color you want and it wont feel heavy on the eye because it is so light and creamy.

Price:
$20.00

Where to Find:
Ulta and Sephora

Revlon:

My Thoughts:
I own two of these little palettes of cream eye shadows and I do like them but they are not great. They pigmentation of colors are good but I feel that in a palette all the colors are very similar and there is not much of a difference especially in the neutrals. It does tend to crease and smudge extremely easy as well which is a downside to them. I think because the pigmentation of them is good they look good by themselves and also as a base coat. This eye shadow is easy to apply this I think is mostly because it is so blendable. Overall I think there are more cons but I do use this on occasion if I have to go out somewhere quick but then plan to spend the rest of the day at home and don't want to do major eye makeup.

Price:
$5.99

Where to Find:
Drugstores, Target, Wal-Mart, and Ulta

WE Fest - Livin The Dream In 2013 (Bonus Post Sunday)

Hi Everyone!

Today is Bonus Post Sunday and what I will be talking about is long overdue. I am going to be talking about WE Fest that I went to a couple of weeks ago and my experience there.

Let's Get Started!

To start off let me share with you what exactly WE Fest is:

Wikipedia: WE Fest is an annual three-day country music festival held the first weekend August at the Soo Pass Ranch in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, United States. The festival was started by Jeff Krueger in August 1983 and was held in a barn to accommodating 9,000 people. Since then, concert goers can choose to camp at different campsites during the festival. Today, it is now one of the biggest country festivals with camping in the nation. In 2007, the attendance reached a record high of 83,000 people over the weekend at the themed "Heaven in '07" concert. (This year it was Livin the Dream in 2013)

Urban Dictionary:
The biggest country festival in the United States located in Minnesota. It is a huge drunk, shitshow where people dress ridiculous and do ridiculous things. You may as well come single, because you will make out with at least 10 strangers. Horses on sticks, guys in short shorts, and profound shirts are likely to be found here. It is spring break, only better. Be ready to drink your ass off for 5 days straight!

I was so excited to go to WE Fest this year because one of my favorite artist Carrie Underwood was going to be there. My friend and I just got general admission tickets which were not all that bad if you knew where to go. On the sides it is absolutely horrible because there is no room to move and there are so many people so close together. We spent a little time in there during one artist and I did not like it one bit. People were dropping drinks and just dropping and going to the bathroom wherever. It was gross and not fun.

Things did get better though. In the middle where people bring lawn chairs and it is more adults there is room to even sit down and you are not near a bunch of people at all and it is a lot cleaner as well. I preferred that 100 percent over being with the high school and college kids and so close.

Even though my friend said that Keith Urban was the best, and don't get me wrong he was pretty great I loved Carrie Underwood. And for her performance we even got closer into reserved lawn chair from her parents. This is a huge change from general admission and I would definitely pay a little more to be anywhere but general admission even though it wasn't as horrible as it could have been.

While in reserve lawn chair we did run into something that I found quite amusing. At concerts you stand. Correct? Well according to the grown man behind us this was not something that we should have been doing. He sat the whole Carrie Underwood concert behind us and pouted because we were standing. I found this to be really very funny. Not something I would expect from an adult guy that is for sure.

On to camping. At WE Fest it is typical to camp but my friend and I really did not want to do this so instead we stayed at my lake cabin which is only 15 minutes away and just had my dad drop and pick us up. I know that I would not like camping. I like to have my own bathroom, like to shower, and not be around a bunch of drunk people 24/7.

My Top 5 favorite performers from this year:
1. Carrie Underwood
2. Keith Urban
3. Little Big Town
4. Darius Rucker
5. Kellie Pickler

 A few tips:
~ Get tickets right away because they are WAY cheaper. You can always sell them if you end up not going.
~Have a fully charged phone when there.
~Make sure to use all your food tickets so you don't waist the money you spent on them.
~Don't be the drunk people puking and peeing everywhere. Its gross and no fun.

Next Years Headliners!

Who I am most looking forward to next year:
1. Jason Aldean
2. The Band Perry
3. Florida Georgia Line

Prints (Fashion Friday)

Hi Everyone!

Today is fashion Friday and I am going to be talking about prints.

Let's get Started!

Prints are a great way to add something unique to an outfit. As someone who owns more neutral clothing items then colored prints are awesome. They are way to add a fun element to what might be an all neutral outfit. If like me you own a lot of neutral tops or jeans then a fun printed top or bottom can then easily be paired with things in your wardrobe.

_______________________________________________________________________________________

Lets talk about a few different type of prints that are easy to pair with things.

The first is stripes. I love stripes because they are easy to style and pair.

Stripes colored or neutral can always be paired with jeans or black bottoms. As you can see from the pictures stripes is a print that can be dressed up or dressed down. Stripes are also great if you are mixing prints as well because they can also easily mix with other prints. Stripes are one of my personal favorite prints because I don't really have to worry about if they go with an outfit. Stripes really can add something to an outfit instead of just having a plain solid colored shirt.

____________________________________________________________________________________________

The next print is chevron. I love chevron and actually just got a chevron scarf. Chevron is like stipes but zig zag.

Chevron is a print that by itself can be interesting as a whole outfit like a dress. Unlike stripes if you had just a two color whole striped dress it wouldn't be as interesting as a chevron one would in the same color.

____________________________________________________________________________________________

When I think of a really girly print I think of a floral print. Floral print can really be a hit or miss for me I think a floral print that is nice but that doesn't look like a grandma print can sometimes be hard to find.

For instance this one is not my favorite floral print but in different colors I think it could be nice. The colors of the floral I think really do play a role in how the floral looks. I personally believe a vibrant floral looks better then a pastel floral. I also think floral looks best paired with neutrals because it is such a statement and lots of colors.

____________________________________________________________________________________________

Animal Print is the last type of print that I will be talking about. Animal print can either be great and look super nice or it can look cheap and trashy. I think its a print that you have to be really careful with.

Animal print is one that I wouldn't, personally, wear with anything but a neutral but styled correctly can look really nice with other colors.

____________________________________________________________________________________________
One thing that I have been loving is printed jeans. I think this adds so much fun to an outfit instead of just plain jeans.

Printed jeans like the cheetah print ones really can go with anything and in my opinion or like a plain pair of jeans and you don't have to worry about if a color goes with them. The floral pair on the other hand you do have to think about if you have multiple tops that can go with them.

____________________________________________________________________________________________

Something that I find hard to do is mix prints. I think it is something that you really have to have an eye for and good styling.

When mixing prints there are a few things that you have to do and keep in mind.
~Make sure there is a common color in the prints unless one is neutral.
~When mixing prints have one be a smaller print and one a larger print.
____________________________________________________________________________________________

Just like when buying any new article of clothing make sure you have things to pair it with. If you are getting a new pattern think about al the things in your closet that you can pair it with. If you don't have more then one thing to pair it with then really how much are you going to wear it and how much use will it get. I know that I hate having stuff that only can go with one other thing because I like taking one item and seeing how many different things that I can combine it with. Make sure you can do that with prints as well. Don't be scared of trying new prints or mixing prints!

My Makeup Routine (My Life Wednesday)

Hi Everyone!

So I have missed Fashion Friday and Makeup Monday but I do have a post for you today! I decided I would mix my life Wednesday with a little bit of makeup Monday. There will also be a fashion Friday post this week will be all about Prints!

So Let's get Started!

___________________________________________________________________________________________

The first thing that I do when getting ready is a clean my face with cleansing wipes. I have one that I absolutely love and it is the target brand up & up cleansing wipes. I don't know about anyone else but I hate the Neutrogena ones. Those ones seem to burn my face when I use them and I'm not the only one I know they burned my friends face as well. Has that happened to anyone else? I do have really sensitive skin but they shouldn't do that! That is why I like the target ones because they do not.

The next thing I use is moisturizer and this again is the target brand up & up. I like this one because it has SPF in it and that is great for the summer because I didn't have to put any extra sunscreen on and I never got burnt so it clearly works. I have also used the Clinique moisturizer and I did like that one a lot to but that one is a little more expensive but I believe that up & up works just the same for me and I don't really see a difference in how is affected my skin.

Concealer time is next! I use Benefit's boi-ing and I absolutely love it! It is probably my favorite makeup product that I own! It really does cover up every little spot big or small on your face and that is what I want. Also it works wonders for under eye circles.
After concealer I use my liquid foundation which is Urban Decays Naked Skin. I have gone through two bottles of this stuff and I will continue to use it. I like how this foundation looks on my face because it is very smooth and not cakey looking at all which is a plus in my book. It is not a heavy, heavy coverage but it can definitely be layered up. To apply I use the real techniques brush on the left to just put it all over my face and then use the blending sponge to blend in nicely in.

Powder foundation is what I use right after the liquid foundation just to lock it all in so that my foundation lasts the whole day. I use Neutrogena's mineral powder foundation and I use the pad that comes with is and just pat it on my face and then use the powder brush to blend it all in. I like how light this powder is because with all of the concealer and liquid foundation I have already put on it still doesn't feel like I have a ton of makeup on my face.

The next steps are my favorite and that  is bronzer and blusher. I use NYX's bronzer and Wet & Wilds Blush in Pearlescent Pink. I did a review on the NYX bronzer if you want to check that out! I use the bronzer to highlight my cheek bone line and then I use it on the sides of my temples, jaw line, and the front of my jaw. I like the pigmentation of the NYX bronzer and that it is easily blendable. I use the blusher just on my cheek bones and I think the color of this blusher is just beautiful and it looks so natural and pretty.

Moving away now from my whole face and just to my eyes. I love doing ye makeup and coming up with new looks to try but there is one that I usually always stick to and it is my go to eye makeup look. I start with Sephora's eye pot as a primer and this stuff isn't the best but it does really help to prevent and creasing or smearing. The next thing I use is Mary Kay's cream eye shadow in eyesicles. It is basically white and sparkly and so in my opinion a great base color.

The Basics Palettes by Urban Decay is probably one of the best makeup purchases that I have ever made it is the best palette I think that you could own because it has all the basic matte colors you need and it is perfect for travel. I might do a review of this for makeup Monday, what are your thoughts? I use all of the colors on the palette and I go from light to dark from the corner of my eye out. and I use the black for eyeliner on the lower lash. I then use the last brush to blend it all together.

Next is mascara which is my favorite thing because I firmly believe everyone should at least wear mascara because it completely can change the way you look. It really adds something to the way you look even if you aren't wearing any other makeup. It makes you look polished and ready for the day. I first curl my lashes and then use a mix of Covergirl's flamed out and clump crusher. (I did a review comparing the two!). I also you The Rocket Mascara and like that one as well.

To finish off the eyes and face I fill in my eyebrows using NYX's eyebrow set. I think this gets the job done and it was cheap. I like to color of the brow in it a lot.

Lastly is lips. I like doing a lot of different lip looks as well but I do have one that has been my summer go to lip. First I use my EOS lip balm in raspberry and usually I but that on before I do my eyes so that when I get to my lips they aren't all dry and gross. The next thing I use is Neutrogena's lip stick and I love the smell and texture of this lip stick. The color is also a very natural lip look. To finish off my lips I use Almay's Lip Gloss in a coral color and I love coral for summer and this lip gloss is not sticky. Which is the best! I hate sticky lip gloss.

That is it for my everyday makeup routine mixed with a little bit of small review of the products!
