Love the Skin You're In (Fashion Friday)

Hi Everyone!

I have been loving doing posts like my previous Makeup Monday and past Fashion Friday Posts. (Campus as a Runway, Does Fashion Matter?, & Beauty on the Inside = Ugly on the Outside?) I think this is because I love to share my opinions and thoughts so much. Today I thought that I would talk about loving the skin you are in and loving yourself the way that you are.

Let's Get Started!

For a long time I have been working on truly loving myself and the way that I am. I am sure that many people have. Getting to the place where you are happy and content with how you are is hard. There are days that I still struggle with it. I look in the mirror and pick our flaw after flaw. I lay in bed and wish and think I could look different or act different.

Other days though I love the way I am looking and can not help but take a few selfies. One thing that I have learned is sometimes all you need to do is smile. Smiling even though you may be so unhappy really does help.

When I notice myself picking out my flaws I tell myself to pick out some positives because everyone has good things about themselves even if they cannot see it.

It is not bad to have things that you want to work on that is actually really good to have goals and desires but do not everyday bring yourself down on them. Look at it like a positive you have enough drive and strength to change the things that you want to.

Loving the way you are can be hard because of media. Magazines and runway shows do not help anyone's self esteem in any way. Looking past what the media displays as beautiful is a hard thing to do but once you do that you will feel a lot better.

What I do to make myself feel confident is putting on my makeup and a cute outfit and walking with my head held high across campus. No I may not be strutting across campus in even a size 4 body but I am as confident if I were.

My challenge to you is to write down 10 things that you love about yourself. I will even do it to. If you want to share leave it in the comments down below.

1. I love my hair.
2. I love my nails.
3. I love my smile.
4. I love the friends I have surrounded myself with.
5. I love my gray eyes.
6. I love that I am so empathetic.
7. I love my family.
8. I love that I am creative.
9. I love my teeth
10. I love that I am caring and loving.

Those are my ten things that I love about myself. I know it is hard to write those ten things it was a struggle for me as well but it made me feel good. Pointing out ten things that you love about yourself can completely change your mood and outlook on the day so I would love everyone to do it!

If no one has told you today,  you are beautiful!
Thank you so much for reading and taking a look!

Thanksgiving (My Life Wednesday)

Hi Everyone!

I missed Makeup Monday which I am really sorry about. I hate missing posts. I just had a million and two things for school to do it seemed like. I hate writing papers and had three due on Tuesday. I am so glad it was only a two day week and I now get to spend time at home with my family. Today I am just going to discuss my Thanksgiving plans.

Let's Get Started!

I cant believe tomorrow is already Thanksgiving this year has gone by like crazy! This semester has gone by like crazy I only have a few more class periods left for the semester and then dreaded finals week. Yuck.

But anyways tomorrow is the Macys Thanksgiving day Parade!

I love watching the parade but last year I missed it because I was in the car.
The performers are my favorite part and seeing all of the different balloons.

If you watch it what is your favorite part of the parade?

On Thanksgiving my whole family gets together at one of my relatives house. It is so nice to get to see everyone and talk to people I haven't seen in forever. I'm sure I'll get the same question from everyone on how is college going and what is your major again. But I don't mind answering them.

What is your favorite part about the Holidays? Let me know in the comments down below! I am sorry this is such a short post but I did not know what to talk about today and was not sure one would even go up.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
Thank you so much for reading and taking a look!
Like I mentioned throughout the post leave your comments down below because I love to see them!

Catching Fire (My Life Wednesday)

Hi Everyone!

If you were not aware tomorrow Catching Fire comes out at midnight, so I guess you could say in two days. I am going to talk about my thoughts on what this movie will be like and overall just how excited I am for it.

Let's Get Started!

First off I know that I will being seeing this movie more then once. Once here at school with my friends and then when I go back home for Thanksgiving break with my family. Where I go to school the 'midnight' premiere on Thursday is actually at 8pm. This does not make sense to me since it is not supposed to come out until the 22nd. I am not going to the premiere but do plan to go on Friday the 22 and cannot wait.

I have read the books and they were amazing I am pretty sure I finished them in under a week. I do wonder how they are going to film some things based on what they changed in the first movie from the book. Some things I am upset about and wish they had not changed because it is so far from the book.

Two things that really bother me that they changed are how Katniss got the mockingjay pin and in the end Seneca died because they hung him in the book but in the movie they had him eat berries. Hanging him played a part in the second book when Katniss went in to be judged during training week, so I am interested to see what they do with that.

Overall though I am looking forward to seeing this movie and hope that it lives up to my expectations because I would hate to be let down. I know that books are always better then the movie but I thought the first Hunger Games movie lived up fairly well to the book and hope this one is the same.

Let me know if you are going to the premiere or plan on seeing it. Have you read the books? What do you think of the changes that they made? Tell me in the comments below!

Thank you so much for reading and taking a look!

Beauty on the Outside = Ugly on the Inside? (Makeup Monday)

Hi Everyone!

Today is makeup Monday which means it is all about beauty today. I decided to do a little bit different post for makeup Monday than I usually do. I decided to go with one more like my recent fashion Friday posts like Campus as a Runway and Does Fashion Matter? So basically it will be more of me just talking and sharing my opinions.

Let's Get Started!

From the title you can tell what my main topic for today is about, it is beauty inside and out. For this post I looked up makeup and beauty quotes and many that I ran into were about how makeup is such a bad thing. I don't find this to be true and I think many people are under the assumption that when people wear makeup they are trying to cover up who they are, which more than likely not the case.

For me and many others makeup is a way to enhance your already natural beauty. Everyone is beautiful, just in different ways. Makeup is a way to highlight what you find beautiful about yourself or for you to feel comfortable staying in or going out all day. Makeup is a confidence booster. If I were not allowed to wear makeup my confidence would severely drop along with many people I think.
Another thing that I found were many quotes about how makeup is used to cover up being ugly on the inside. Why does that have to be the case? Why were there so many quotes about people who wear makeup being ugly on the inside? I do not understand that. Wearing makeup is not a device used to try and cover up some sort of ugliness on the inside. Makeup like I said previously is used to enhance and be a confidence booster. It sharpens up your whole look. It makes you, in my opinion, look much more pulled together and ready to take on the tasks of the day.
Generalizing here but I feel that many people do not wear makeup for others. Makeup is worn for the wearer. I personally do not wear makeup to attract attention from guys or for others to think that I am pretty, I do not wear makeup for anyone other than myself. Like the quote above says lipstick holds the promise of a smile and a good day. This is because of the confidence, that I have mentioned many times already, that makeup gives you. Putting on a great red lipstick can make me feel so fierce and in charge that it can change my whole attitude for the day, just like clothes. This is something a lot of things cannot do.

Makeup like clothes is fun to experiment with and to find your identity. My style in makeup has changed as I have gotten older and as I have changed inside. I use much more makeup but it looks much more natural. It is a weird concept and seems almost contradictory, but it is true. So many people say they feel better without makeup on but I feel quite the opposite. No I do not mind siting at home for a day without makeup on but if I am leaving the house you bet I will have my makeup done. Why would I risk feeling insecure and uncomfortable if it only takes ten to fifteen minutes to feel confident and beautiful.

Beauty on the outside is what everyone will see first and what will draw them in. As bad as that sounds it is true, but beauty on the inside is what keeps them around. You can be the most beautiful person but if your personality and attitude, for lack of a better word, suck people are not going to stick around. That is just the truth. Makeup is there to make your outer beauty match your inner beauty. Yes it can be used to shield an ugly inside but because that it is true for some people it is not true for a majority.

Overall I find that when people say, beauty on the outside means you are trying to cover up an ugly inside, they are wrong. You can be beautiful inside and out while wearing makeup. It is not used by everyone as a way to cover up ugliness but instead a way to enhance the beauty which they already have.

My favorite part of the morning is putting on makeup. It is like creating a piece of beautiful artwork; my face is the canvas and makeup the paint.

Does Fashion Matter? (Fashion Friday)

Hi Everyone!

Today I thought I would make a post kind of like my post last Friday where I shared my opinion relating to fashion. This is just mainly an add on to my post Campus as a runway but more about what fashion means to me and why I am majoring in Apparel Merchandising.

Let's Get Started!

Fashion, lets start off by what exactly is fashion. Fashion, according to the dictionary, are clothing styles: style in clothing, hair, and personal appearance. So as much as anyone wants to say they do not care about fashion it is apart of everyone's life on a daily bases. Fashion forms your identity and you discover your identity through it. No, forming your identity is not only done through clothing but it does play a huge part. For example you would not find someone who is a nurse walking around the hospital in a sweatshirt and jeans. You would find him or her in scrubs because at that time being a nurse is there identity and there role. It shows everyone who you are at a particular moment.

Fashion is a way to express yourself. Clothing can make you feel confident and good about yourself when you put it on. Many other things can make you feel good as well but this is different because for the whole day it can give you a completely different mindset.

In one of my classes, Socio-Psych: Aspects of Dress, we had to do a project. This project was about dressing out of context. So you could wear mix matched clothes, oversized or to small clothes, formal attire, or something that is associated with a different age group. Basically it just had to be not normal for you to be wearing. I cannot tell you how nervous I was for this project and did not want to do it, but never the less I had to and did. What I choose to do was dress up formally since I thought I would be less self conscious about it. That though was not the case. Walking across campus at eight in the morning in bright pink heels and a white dress, not to mention a freezing Monday morning, was not in the slightest bit normal.

Since I am not the most confident person in the world I use clothing as a way to feel comfortable and confident. But that morning all I could think about was what I was wearing and how uncomfortable I was and wanted to change. I couldn't even concentrate on anything else, what I was wearing was the only thing on my mind! This did show me how much what I wear impacts me every single day. I never worry about what I am wearing when I am confident in it but when I am not, it is the only thing that I could think about.

Like that experiment displayed fashion matters and it is what makes you, you. This is why I want to go into fashion. One thing I love is going shopping with my friends and playing stylist because I love picking out things for others to wear. When you see someone walk out in something that they love you can see it just be looking at them. I want to be able to do this and give people a reason to walk taller and confident, may it just be for a night where they get to be all glammed up.

So, to answer my question, yes, fashion does matter. Fashion matters to some more than others but it matters. It has to, it is apart of our everyday lives whether you want to believe that or not. It has been apart of our lives since the day we were born. Think about it first day of school, school pictures, dressing up like a princess, homecoming, prom, and your wedding. Fashion plays a big role in those things. So I say dress up and wear something that you are truly confident and comfortable in everyday, feel as if you could take on the world.

“Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.”
-Coco Chanel
